They were looking to have a product with one-stop solutions for their existing customers and new users for all bill payments and recharge requirements. They wanted a transformed version of the erstwhile their existing wallet app.
The purpose was to find a one-stop solution and determine the basic pain points of wallet app users. The older version of app has good amount of users registered on the app. The client had feedbacks from users, and we took that feedback while working on the app.
I looked into the competitor’s wallet apps like PhonePe, Paytm, Freecharge, etc I analyzed the key requirements, features, and user flows to fulfill all the requirements. Design flow has to be easy, and the user should not get stuck on the screen.
All the apps are very well established in the market and have a very large amount of user base. The requirement was to have instant money transfer to any bank account, apply for gold/business loans, view loan status, one-stop solution for all your bill payments, and flight ticket booking.
Sketching was the first step to help me outline the design and visually imagine it.
Some brainstorming on the wireframe and our initial designs were on paper and then we developed a low fidelity wireframe in Balsamiq Mockups for our client to review. You’ll see different iteration has been designed for the home screen. Our aim for the home screen was that we wanted users to browse all services without getting stuck or lost on the screen.
It was good learning about the finance domain. I am not much of a user of wallet apps, but this project got me into using wallet apps. Designed more than 100 screens for this application was challenging/interesting for me to understand and execute the design for the required use cases.
The project was handed over to client’s team after the completion of the design. And first phase of development later, a team of developers from client’s team developed the app further and launched on google play and app store.
